silver and steel
So, I have a new iPhone. So far, I have learned that a) Verizon's system for transferring contacts from your old phone to a new iPhone sucks, and b) just because I can now check my email before I even get out of bed in the morning doesn't mean I should.

So, my next order of business is to find a case with a belt clip for the thing. (The iPhone is really too big to carry in my pockets, and besides, my old phone has had a substantial portion of its casing worn off by years of knocking around in my pocket with keys, coins, and other gadgets.) Next order of business is to find some useful apps to put on it - there's a Shakespeare app I've got my eye on, and a couple of cooking apps, and a running app. All you existing iPhone users - what are your favorite apps?

Welcome aboard!

I have to say, my #1 favorite app is iBooks, although I do more reading on my iPad for screen real estate reasons. I also use iDisk a lot, mostly as a convenient way to transfer PDFs to iBooks. :-) But you need MobileMe for that to work. MMe's Gallery is also nice.

Beyond Apple's own apps, WriteChain is awesome for writers. It's simple, it's dumb, and it totally works for me. Also, it's free, so what the heck?

I like Eric Snider's Klondike and Spider solitaire apps, a bit too much perhaps, in part because they have an awesome one-tap interface that I haven't seen elsewhere. This is the Eric of Eric's Solitaire on the classic Mac, btw.

Oh, and Shazam. Shazam rules.

Oh, cool. I have MobileMe, so I'll have to check that out.

There's also an iOS version of Find My iPhone, which is something I suggest you turn on in MobileMe ASAP anyway. :-)

Funny you should get an iPhone just as I was thinking of doing the same thing. I am a Mac Lover (TM) and was determined to get one. However, for various reasons I have recently acquired an HTC Desire which, I have to say, is easily equal to the iPhones I have used. There is still a part of me wistfully longing for an iPhone but I am loving my HTC...

Having said all that - enjoy your iPhone! :)
