bannakaffalatta, short

Random Hugo awards factoid

For reasons unknown to me, I woke up at 4 a.m. today with a burning desire to know whether radio/audio drama is eligible for the Hugo awards in the Short Dramatic Presentation/Long Dramatic Presentation categories. Not so burning that I didn't manage to go back to sleep for another couple of hours.

A quick google reveals that audio drama is eligible (in the short form category if under 90 minutes, and in the long form categeory if over 90 minutes). As are computer games.

Not that an audio drama or computer game stands much chance of winning against a feature film or episode of a well-regarded TV show. But it's nice to know that they are eligible in theory.

Project Beer, the legend continues

Tonight's beer recipe: chicken thighs braised with yam, tomatillos, pasilla peppers, garlic, onion, chipotle, orange zest, orange juice, and a bottle of Negra Modelo dark beer.

Recipe needs a little tinkering, which is why I haven't written it up in detail. The chicken was good, but the yam and tomatillos basically disintegrated - next time I'll add them after the chicken has cooked a bit. Also, I think I overdid it on the chilies a bit. And I think next time I'd reduce the amount of orange juice (I squeezed three whole oranges), and maybe use a mix of orange and lime juice.

I think now that I've proved that I can reliably do a decent braise or stew with added beer, I really ought to try one of those beer bread or beer cake recipes that I've collected.
