Audio Review: Doctor Who - Loups Garoux

Doctor Who: Loups Garoux (Big Finish Audio Drama)Doctor Who: Loups Garoux by Marc Platt

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Listening to this was a bit of an odd experience, because I'd read the script some time ago, and I think the story I imagined in my head was darker and more atmospheric than this realization seemed. (Sometimes, the sound design of your imagination is much more effective.) There are certain things that I think could have been executed better - most glaringly, Rosa somehow comes across as more like an American teenager than a member of a indigenous Brazilian tribe. Having said all that, it's Doctor Who. With werewolves. On a monorail in the near-future Brazilian wilderness. Marc Platt's script does a great job of making the werewolves complex characters rather than just monsters, and the relationship between the Doctor and Ileana is handled well. It's well worth a listen.
