I took a walk over to the Registrar of Voters office this morning to drop of my vote-by-mail ballot. They're doing early voting over there today, and the place was packed. There must have been something like a hundred people waiting there to vote, and a constant stream of people coming in and out. I don't think I've ever seen a polling place this packed. I wonder what the turn-out will be like on election day.
I also wonder what will happen to all this political energy after election day. I imagine that a lot of people will go back to worrying about other things once the election is over, but it would be nice to think that we've managed some kind of increase in the number of politically engaged citizens.
